Joy Reid stated that the MSNBC heads were “horrified” for their presence on social media and repeatedly pressured it to stop tweeting before canceling its Primetime program, “The Reidout.”
In a wide conversation with Katie Couric launched on Monday at the new Reid podcast, the former MSNBC host stated that the direction of the Left of Commcast’s left property network discouraged it from relating to the online public, fearing that it would give it too much autonomy.
“At any time he would tweet anything, he would receive calls; he would get,” Please get out of Twitter, we hate it, “Reid said.
“They do not like to take their talent and journalists out of their control because you are not running what tweets through standards and practices now. Give your personality directly to the audience, which they do not like because they no longer manage them and are cured.”
The Reidouts MSNBC program “The Reidout” was canceled in February as part of a wider programming review directed by the new network president, Rebecca Kutler. Reid’s final transmission was published on February 24.
The cancellation occurred in the middle of a restructuring throughout the network that also affected other guests, included Alex Wagner and Katie Phang.
Reid’s observations were at the “The Joy Reid Show”, a new podcast and YouTube series.
He published the interview with Couric on his website and YouTube Channel, marking his hottest statements about his February departure from MSNBC.
The network did not give any public explanation when it canceled “the Reidout”, which caused the decision to be part of a larger post -election jolt after Donald Trump’s return to the presidency.
Several non -white anchors were released at the same time. Ex -Mfiper of MSNBC, Keith Olbermann [Elon] Musk. “”
When Couric directly asked him what his dismissal caused, Reid said he is not yet safe.
“I have been asked so many times,” he said. “And people think I only say it to BS but I’m honest with you, I don’t know.”
Reid said he learned of the cancellation not much after exchange emails with the MSNBC public relations team, which celebrated the victory of the Naacp Image Award on the program.
Reid insisted that the cancellation was not related to poor ratings.
“It was not valuation,” he said. “We have just had a qualifications meeting a couple of weeks before talking about our program … Apart from Rachel Maddow, we were the least” following the victory of Trump.
“We were told we were doing … we were quite good,” added Reid. “And then, you know, it is not like the ratings have improved since I have been.”
She described the way the news was delivered as a “written” and “very perfect”, noting that she did not receive any specific reason for the end of the program.
“I was not told that” the valuations were terrible “, it is something you did,” “you tweeted something terrible,” he added that it had already been “very careful” online in the midst of growing worries on the network on social media talent.
Although Reid said he did not necessarily believe that his critique of Trump was the reason for the cancellation of his program, he acknowledged that he may have played a role.
“I am a black woman doing the thing. Do you know what i mean?” She said.
“I think there is a difference in Trump in listening to the types of criticism, specifically, a black woman. He is annoyed so that he does not annoy him like anything else.”
“There is fear of him,” Reid added. “We see it everywhere.”
Reid has faced multiple controversy over the years, beginning with the reappearance of homophobic blogs publications in its defective place, “The Reid Report”.
Initially stating that his blog was hacked, Reid later admitted that there was no evidence that supported, although he maintained publications he did not reflect his opinions.
He also apologized for the past tweets who mocked Ann Coulter and Lindsey Graham with a sexist and homophobic language.
In 2020, Reid was charged with Islamophobia after comparing Trump’s rhetoric with that of radical Islamic leaders, causing a decline of Muslim-American groups.
More recently, during the MSNBC 2024 election coverage, Florida called a “fascist government” and criticized white women from North Carolina voters for not supporting Kamala Harris, blaming them from the failure of the state to protect abortion rights.
Reid also aroused the controversy with his response to Trump’s assassination attempt, suggesting that his own rhetoric could have helped to incite political violence.
Critics accused him of lowering the gravity of the attack and requested that his program be canceled.
